[RC] re: guidelines - Cindy CollinsI don't know anyone who conditions that much, either, or anyone who races flat out for a mile...but, whatever. I never conditioned that much in the "old" days when I rode some sub 4 hour 50s. I would say that a more realistic schedule for most of us is two weekday rides of 8 to 12 miles and one weekend long ride of 15-20 miles. Speed and terrain would depend upon the horse and your goals. Once the ride season starts, I just try to make sure the horse gets enough exercise to stay loose and keep conditoned. Just my opinion, of course...I bet everyone will give you a different answer.
