My first love was The Black Stallion, and I've been in love with black
horses ever since. I have a black mare now who is just about perfect -- 15
hands, solid black except for a gorgeous crescent moon on her forehead, long
thick mane that hangs below her shoulder, and a thick tail that skims the
ground. Amazing, sweet, gentle temperament. Solid as a rock. She's too heavy
(draft cross) -- and too dark -- to be an endurance horse however.

My first horse was a black and white tobiano, and that and solid black
remain my favorite colors to this day. A flashy paint can always turn my
head.

The horse I'm hoping will be my endurance horse is technically a blue roan,
but he's grey to the eye. Very grey. True silver even. Grey is probably my
least favorite color, but that's okay -- I didn't buy him for his color. :-)
It's definitely a losing battle to try to keep him clean.
