Re: [RC] [RC] heart monitor - AprilMy heart rate monitor and my conversion kit (to convert a human chest belt to horse-usable) both came with a 2 inch wide soft velcro strap that wraps around the girth and attaches back to itself. (I guess it's 6 inches long). The electrode sticks to the velcro strap just fine and I've never had a problem with the soft velcro rubbing my horse. My worst problem with this setup shows up because I don't want to over-tighten my girth just to get a good HRM reading. So I put a folded scrap of my Dixie Midnight pad (leftover after I trimmed the DM pad) between the velcro strap and the girth. This pushes the electrode out to make better skin contact even when the girth isn't the tightest it could be. Anything'll work here. The DM scrap seems to stay in better, but I've used Tacky Tack scraps, too. If you can't find something suitable, contact Roger Rittenhouse of VMAX. He'll help you out. Not sure of the cost of the little velcro strap, but he'll be helpful. I think he'll be at the convention, too. http://www.vmaxept.com/ April Nashville, TN =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
