Not only does the owner/rider really learn along with the horse so that when the horse is finished with training, the rider is also up to speed and they both can progress together, but (sorry this is such a long sentence!) also, if anything is going wrong, the owner can catch it before it becomes a major problem.I strongly believe that both the rider and the horse need "training" together. Otherwise, you end up with a horse that knows some stuff that the rider doesn't which isn't much better than the horse not knowing it in the first place.
