I know a show paso Fino who had that . His owner had surgery on him and he recovered and is fine in the show ring and her personal riding. Laurie

Iodine shots are called internal blistering. Causes pain and inflammation in
the stifle joint and then builds scar tissue which shortens the ligament. I
had it done to a TWH mare I had it did no good. The only other option was
surgery cutting the ligament, which would then make it impossible for her to sleep
standing up.

I understand this problem is more common in gaited horses or those with
"stick legged" conformation. Lots of slow hill work will make them stronger but I
have no idea how well a horse would hold up for endurance.
