Re: [RC] [Guest] Purge worming with fenbendazole suspension 1000 ml - Heidi SmithErin Drebis ECDrebis@xxxxxxxxx I have a question regarding using the fenbendazole suspension found at feedstores for livestock. How do you administer it? How much do you administer? What is the equivalant to giving the Panacur Powerpak? What about purge worming a foal? My colt will be 6 months old this fall - is he too young to purge deworm? The cattle dose listed on the side of the livestock suspension is the correct dosage for single-dose dewormings of horses as well. Just double it for the purge, and do it for 5 days. It is easily administered by mouth with a regular syringe--although I prefer using a smaller syringe (12 or 20 ml) and splitting the dose into 3 or 4 "administrations" as the larger syringes are just too big to use with one hand, and I'm invariably doing it by myself and holding the horse with the other hand. If you have dewormed the foal regularly (every 4 weeks or so) there is likely no need to purge--but if you haven't, then I'd suggest going ahead and purging him. He is not too young.
