[RC] Horse Shootings in CA - SJTHEPHOTO

Hi Everyone--

I just wanted to pass this along--seems someone has lost it, and taking it out on the horses of the Sacramento-Auburn area.  Keep an eye on your horses!

The following email message was received by BAEN ( www.bayequest.com ) on 3/5/03:

I just now got off the phone with a very dear friend who lives in Roseville.
She owns Arabians. Someone came down her small private road today while she
was home sick, and shot her mare three times in the head. This happened
between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm when she found her horse dead in the pasture.
Her house is farther back, and she did not hear anything. The sheriff came
and said that there was another horse killed the same way in Loomis two
weeks ago. This was NOT a personal vendetta – just a senseless loss. She had
another horse in the same pasture who was unharmed. Please be watchful of
your horses, and report any suspicious persons to the authorities. Anyone
who would shoot in broad daylight would most likely shoot at people too –
especially if confronted. Please pass this along to all the horse owners you
know, and hopefully someone will catch this person before he kills again.
Thanks.

Can't believe it...here's another one. There is obviously someone having a
problem with horses, a retired police horse was killed the same way on Lime
Kiln Rd in Grass Valley just last week. [see newspaper article at
