RE: [RC] Board Motions. - Steph TeeterBob - consider that there is also a meeting on Sunday, and a midyear meeting too. I suspect that many of these items will be tabled until Sunday (as new business) or remanded to committee for further review. Barney is very aware of the large amount of business, and short amount of time, and we have discussed the potential for exactly what you describe - rushing things becuase time is running out. None of us want this. Very little of the business before us will be 'gotta do it now' business. We have a lot to consider, but no need to make snap decisions. Truly we have put an enormous amount of work into this, and nobody is going to want to shortchange any good ideas because we don't have time to fully consider them. If anybody thinks Sargeant Barney's meetings are not well conducted - please come and sit in on the Thursday night session. If you can stay awake, I think you will be very impressed by how far the meetings have come. Yes, please comments are welcome by all. Well, the initial list of Board motions to be considered has been released. As many of you are aware I have been a very vocal proponent to have this information available at least 30 days prior to the meeting. Well, this time we did not do to bad, we got it 10 days prior. Better than nothing I guess. I printed it out and it covers 12 pages and consists of at least 21 motions. In all actuality there are more than 21 motions as several of them consist of several sections that constitute individual votes. A minimum of 21 motions to be debated along with a full agenda of reports and other business to be conducted in a session of six hours including dinner. Do you believe these motions will be given the important thought they demand? I doubt it. Do you believe that the membership will be able to digest these motions and advise their directors, all in one week? I doubt it. I ask all of the AERC members on this forum to at least look at these motions and to try to comment on them to your directors. Most of the motions cover very serious matters concerning Endurance Competition and you part in the sport. Your participation is extremely important. Show the current directors that you want to be an active part of the Conference.
