So funny how we think we're trying to teach our horses to do
something, when we're teaching them just the opposite.
What's that other saying? You can lead a horse to water, but
you can't make them drink! So true.
A friends horse came over for breeding one year and she told me she
wouldn't drink out of buckets. The first time I put a bucket down
she drank out of it. Maybe she just never noticed she drank out of
buckets?? Maybe it was just her buckets. Didn't think too much
of it til now.

There may be more to it than that. I
have seen people teach their horses not to drink. They will let the
horse stand by a water source for a long time if it doesn't drink.
Some horses learn not drinking on the trail means I can stand
here...
