I agree with Annie's statement below. We
all need to become more vocal on the issues. I'm not sure this will come across
the way I intend, but here goes...
There isn't time at the board meetings
for the directors to interject their two cents worth, so the members certainly
wouldn't have time to get involved there. Therefore, it is imperative that
discussions be held beforehand.
I know the BOD list has had lots of
discussions here lately (M. Maul tells us so). I think that list has things said
that no one else needs to see (hear); but I also think some of the basic
knowledge should be shared with the AERC members for us to be able to make
intelligent comments on the motions.
I know next to nothing about computers
and lists. Someone (maybe Mike or John) said that maybe the secretary could make
notes and post to a list. I thought this is a great idea - if the secretary has
time to do that. With most of the membership being connected to internet, I
think it is time to move to new ways of communication other than just using the
mailbag portion of EN.
Hope this is somewhat
understandable...

I absolutely agree. The
purpose of my becoming suddenly so vocal in this particular issue is that
rider apathy is also to blame. I was also disinterested in the politics,
"Just want ride my horse" But all the members need to take more notice, and
voice their likes and dislikes. I think if the voter turn out was better,
and there was more discussion, and involvement by the members these big
uproars and such hard feelings would not happen. Annie G.
