Paula,

I ride a grey Tb mare, never track raced due to a wire
injury when she was a weanling, but she exhausts my
arab geldings.  She won't ride behind them because she
has longer strides.  However, she doesn't cool down as
quickly as the boys.>

I have also seen some Tbs win in the SW.  One 50 miler
won in an astounding under 4 hours, a few years ago. 
He was a bay.  I didn't agree with running him all the
way, especially when he was an easy 1/2 hour ahead of
the next horse.  At that same ride I saw my first case
of road founder, too.  Not pretty.
