RE: Flair Nasal Strips
Barb Thomas thomas@amgen.com
Anyone know how much these nasal strips keep the nostrils open? Here's my armchair theory. The nostrils are meant to open and close as the horse breathes. This keeps a good bit of dust and dirt out and keeps the nasal passages moist which traps entering dust and irritants in the nares, preventing them from getting down into the bronchii and lungs. Wouldn't keeping the nostrils open for, say, the length of time it took to do a 50 or 100 be detrimental to the horse in the long run? Seems it would make them more susceptible to bronchial and lung irritation over time. Has anyone scoped horses using these over long distances to see if there's increased irritation? Barb
