Re: RC: RE: Re: Bask???

I feel the same way - our Laser has a lot of Bask in him, and he's one of the sweetest, best tempered horses I've seen. And he goes, and goes and goes...

At the end of our first 60 on him this weekend, Jennifer turned him back towards another loop, and he willingly started down the path...

Sigh - his sire's since been gelded, and apparently that's where his temperament came from. If there were more where he came from, I'd be buying.

IIRC, all the Bask is about 4 generations back or so -

Well now I'm crushed. I've been so happy with my boy, he's top-10'd three of his last four rides (since mid-March) and finished 5th overall last weekend in Albuquerque to qualify for the National Championship in August. He's sweepstakes nominated, and has a great temperament to boot. Only to find out that *Bask isn't desirable and half his background is *Bask, the other half Aladdinn. Guess I'll have to call the Alpo man......

Kerry (yeah I know, it was my way of getting a BRAG in!)
and Spritism (Alpo? .......)

So--do I personally consider *Bask to be a red flag in the pedigree? Yes, to a certain degree, simply because of how he has been used.

I had to laugh reading this post. One of our early decisions about breeding was that we just would not put any *Bask into our horses at all, no matter what the source. It was a kind of arbitrary thing to do, but we felt that someday, someone many horse generations ahead, would want a horse for some reason that wouldn't have *Bask in it. So that's what we did (or didn't do). Lif
