The seventh stage of the V-Andalucia Kaliber Raid was held Saturday April 17 between Charcha and Baza, a total of 51 kilometers and a veterinary control point in Cortijo Narvaez, within the Sierra de Baza Natural Park.

Jose Antonio Aguilar repeated his victory today in Baza, riding Rayito, in a very fast race along with Jose Gundin and Sopenilla who led into the veterinary control point. Second place went to Paulette Maldera on Louna de Rivoiron recovering the lead in the overall team standings, and the third place went to Veronique Gaillard on Veronique. In pairs category the French rider Christiane Guinand won with Ahab du Vallois, also winners in Ronda. Following in second and third were Francisco Lopez Maeso on Arenal de Urgobi and Elsbeth Brunner with Capo.

The penultimate stage of the V-Andalucia Raid Kaliber opened with the Basque Jose Gundin and his mount Sopenilla as they they launched their attack from the start in Charcha, imposing a strong pace despite the hilly profile of the route. At a few kilometers the lead group consisted of six French and two Spanish.the hook.

After veterinary supervision in the Cortijo Narvaez, Jose Gundin and SOPENILLA increased the pace for the last 16 kilometers, followed by Jose Antonio Aguilar and Paulette Maldera. Farther back were Veronique Gaillard and brothers Luc and Jean-Pierre Chambost. At the finish Gundin and came in 6 minutes ahead of Aguilar, but in the veterinary Sopenilla failed the trot. The victory went to Aguilar and Rayito. Paulette Maldera and Louna de Rivouron earned second place, while Veronique Loukoum Gaillard and were third.

In teams category Christiane Guinand and Ahab du Vallois intially gained several kilometers on the leading group, and then relaxed to enter Baza as winners with a comfortable lead. In the overall team Paulette and Daniel Maldera recovered first place, while Jean-Pierre and Pierre Lerisset Chambost are now second and the Gaillards continue as third.

The first three differences in the pairs category are less than 8 minutes, so that tomorrow the last stage may still change many things. With the penalty for the Basque team of Imanol Vault and Jose Gundin, the fourth place in the overall team standings is now for Jose Antonio Aguilar.

In pairs Eduardo Sanchez Hidalgo and Hermes remain first by far. The German Heike Blumel is in second position with LENS-Armstrong, but Elsbeth Brunner and Capo are less than 1 minute behind - it also be very interesting tomorrow see how they fare in the final stage.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the eighth and final stage of V-Andalucia Kaliber Raid will be held between Belerdas and Cazorla, through the Natural Park of Sierra de Cazorla, over 52 miles and veterinary control and a break through in The source of the Guadalquivir. The Belerdas start is initially scheduled for 10 am.

Jose Antonio Aguilar repitio hoy victoria de etapa en Baza, montando esta vez a RAYITO, en de un carrera muy rapida protagonizada por el vasco Jose Gundin con SOPENILLA, que no paso el control de trote despues de entrar primeros en meta. El segundo puesto fue para Paulette Maldera con LOUNA-DE-RIVOIRON, que recuperan el liderazgo en la general por equipos, y el tercero para Veronique Gaillard con LOUKOUM. En binomios gano la francesa Christiane Guinand con ACHAB-DU-VALLOIS, ganadores ya en Ronda, delante de Francisco Lopez Maeso con ARENAL-DE-URGOBI y de Elsbeth Brunner con CAPOE.

La septima etapa del V Raid Kaliber-Andalucia se disputo hoy sabado 17 de abril entre Charches y Baza, sobre un total de 51 kilometros y con el control veterinario intermedio en el Cortijo Narvaez, dentro del Parque Natural Sierra de Baza.

La penultima etapa del V Raid Kaliber-Andalucia tuvo como principal protagonista al jinete vasco Jose Gundin y su montura SOPENILLA que lanzaron su ataque desde la salida de Charches, imponiendo un ritmo muy fuerte a pesar del perfil montañoso del recorrido. A los pocos kilometros el grupo de cabeza estaba formado por seis franceses y dos españoles, pero a mitad de carrera la francesa Guinand se quedo descolgada.

Despues del control veterinario en el Cortijo Narvaez Jose Gundin y SOPENILLA aumentaron aun mas el ritmo para los ultimos 16 kilometros, seguidos de Jose Antonio Aguilar con RAYITO, Paulette Maldera con LOUNA-DE-RIVOIRON, y, bastante mas alejados, Veronique Gaillard y los hermanos Jean-Luc y Pierre Chambost. En la meta Gundin y SOPENILLA llegaron con 6 minutos de ventaja sobre Aguilar y RAYITO, pero en el control veterinario SOPENILLA no paso el trote y la victoria fue para Aguilar y RAYITO. Paulette Maldera y LOUNA-DE-RIVOIRON, recuperaron, gracias a las bonificaciones de su segundo puesto, el liderato por equipos, mientras que Veronique Gaillard y LOUKOUM fueron terceros.

En la carrera de binomios Christiane Guinand y ACHAB-DU-VALLOIS se dejaron llevar durante varios kilometros por el grupo de cabeza de la carrera de equipos, hasta conseguir una buena ventaja, y despues aflojaron para entrar ganadores en Baza con una comoda ventaja. En la clasificacion general el equipo del matrimonio Maldera, Paulette y Daniel, recuperaron el primer puesto, mientras que Jean-Pierre Lerisset y Pierre Chambost son ahora segundos y el matrimonio Gaillard continua tercero. Los tres primeros siguen con diferencias de menos de 8 minutos, asi que mañana la ultima etapa podra cambiar aun muchas cosas. Con la penalizacion del equipo vasco de Imanol Boveda y Jose Gundin, la cuarta posicion en la general por equipos es ahora para Jose Antonio Aguilar.

En binomios Eduardo Sanchez Hidalgo y HERMES se mantienen primeros con mucha ventaja. El segundo puesto es para Heike Blümel con LENS-AMSTRONG-KL, pero a menos de 1 minuto tiene ahora a Elsbeth Brunner con CAPEO, con lo que mañana sera tambien muy interesante ver como se portan en la etapa final.

Mañana domingo la octava y ultima etapa del V Raid Kaliber-Andalucia se disputara entre Belerdas y Cazorla, atravesando el Parque Natural de la Sierra de Cazorla, sobre 52 kilometros y con un control veterinario intermedio y un descanso en el Nacedero del Guadalquivir. La salida de Belerdas esta prevista inicialmente a partir de las 10 de la mañana, y los primeros caballos llegaran a Cazorla a partir de las 14 horas.
