Re: RideCamp: Feeding while travelling
Barbara,
I usually don't trailer more than about 4-5 hours to a ride, but I have gone
to some rides that required 2 days of 8 hour trailering. I was too chicken to
take the horse off, afraid it wouldn't get back on! I had arranged to stay
overnight at a horse facility where the horse could be in a paddock to relax &
move about.
I did offer the horse water in a small bucket whenever I stopped for gas or
potty breaks. Especially after the ride, the water seemed to be much
appreciated. I have a hay net that the horse can eat from (raised fairly
high). I also put one of those see thru fly masks on the horse, especially in
the summer when I have more of the vents open to protect the horse's eyes from
small pieces of hay debris.
Would be interested in how other folks handle long distance hauls.
