Re: RideCamp: Feeding while travelling
Because I usually travel alone, I rarely take my horses out of the
trailer - even if the trip is l2 hours long. On a really long trip, I
usually have more than l horse also. I do stop for a minimum of 30
minutes about every 3 hours, open windows if they're closed and offer
water. My horses do trailer quite well though. They will eat, drink,
pee, etc. in the trailer just fine. I always electrolyte (in the feed)
before I trailer to encourage them to drink when I offer it.
I always hang a hay bag. One may eat the entire time he's in the
trailer and one may eat only when we're stopped. Sometimes they just
pull it out and drop it on the floor - boredom or possibly some anxiety
I suppose. But so far, I've had no problems.
