Running on empty
HI, campers,
I've been following this discussion about fats, glyco loading etc. I think
I've found the perfect solution.
When I was doing all that running (thank you, U.S. Army) I learned (the hard
way) that I had to avoid foods that produced gas (beans, broccoli,) etc the
night before. If I ate any meat, like a steak or what have you, I couldn't
run more than a mile.
Otherwise, I'd "tie up" and boy that hurts. I ate NOTHING the morning of a
long run (about 6 or 7 miles every other day, 9 minutes a mile) and since it
wasn't "hoo ah" to carry water, I never did. I would run out of gas about
half way out, and this was a problem until I learned what could carry me
through.
Lasagna.
If I had a nice serving of lasagna and a salad the night before, I had no
problems the next day on our nice little runs.
So there, Campers, is the answer. Feed your horses a large helping of lasagna
the night before and you will all finish Tevis. All these arguments, and all
you had to do was ask a soldier.
No need to send money, just doing my part to further the sport.
Michelle and Jordan (mom, can I have extra Parmesan cheese?)
