Re: RC: Re: ridecamp-d Digest V99 #117
Sometimes what our horses will do for us even in the face of abuse is enough
to make me cry. I train my dogs in agility and am conditioning the horse for
endurance. I try to be positive in every aspect of our training...both horse
and dog. Some of the things I've read about horse abuse makes me
wonder.....why would any creature try so hard for a human that abuses it? If
I trained my dogs harshly, they might do the obstacles out on that agility
course, but they wouldn't do it with the enthusiasm my guys have now. But a
horse, you can beat it to make it behave, and end up with a better
performance (sometimes...temporarily at least) than someone who takes it slow
and kindly. I wonder if thats a failing of the horse show community, or just
showing the amazing forgiveness of our horses?
Anyway, just random points to ponder late on a sunday night when i should be
in bed......

Corey CGC the agility boxer
