A little knowledge.....
You know, after reading all the discussion the last several days, I'm
beginning to think it's a miracle any of use complete any distance on
our horses :)
Also, makes me wonder how many horses appear fine and may even finish
with good grades but may in fact only be _that_ far away from metabolic distress.
The next thing we'll all have to add to our
equipment-to-just-get-thru-a-ride list is a crash cart for our horses.
Let's see we'll need fluids for sure, needles, syringes, Carbo Charge,
electrolytes, containers to mix the stuff in, glucometer, big needle and
tube to draw blood, equipment to analyze blood on the spot, paper and
mini-printer to spit out results, book to tell us what those results
mean and how much farther we can take that horse.....
Wonder how I'll attach all that to my saddle - maybe I can just pull it
behind me in a cart....
