Just who is the dangerous one here?
Too bad that some people are getting upset over this most lively,
and educationg discussion. While Tom may provoke others, he is
also demanding that people back up what they say (one of the
basics of Scientific Theory). Nothing is more dangerous than a
person with "credentials" that makes "absolute" statements
expecting others to go away with it as gospel. How many "myths"
in our sport started that way? No matter what we are told, we as
riders, are the ones who need to listen, process new knowledge
and apply it to our sport. It may seem radical, it may not agree
with what we are presently doing, but we should still think about it.
What is dangerous is that we are more inclined to copy what we
see another person doing rather listen to a discussion such as this
one in order to think out what we will be doing next. It doesn't' t
make any difference if our goals are to win or to complete, we all
expose our horses to the elements of risk of the sport. If we can
learn something to minimize those risks, we just might deserve the
right to be riding those wonderful horses.
