This doesn't always work, Teddy.  I had a mare that would chase dogs out of 
her pasture and would kick or stomp on them when they didn't leave.  We were 
still ganged up on by a pack of dogs on one ride.  She tried glaring, she 
tried kicking and biting and we got out of the area eventually, but not 
before she was bitten twice.
