A couple years ago our neighbor got emus. Of course, they went into a pen 
right next to our horses. One poor mare was at the back of the place & 
would't come past them. Every time she'd try to creep by they'd all dash to 
the fence to see her & back she'd go. We carried water to her for 3 days 
before she decided they were okay. I'd still hate to meet one of those on 
trail!
