I think you make some excellent points.  I have reservations though about
groups whose activities make it dangerous for others to enjoy the trail.
I'm not sure what the answer is.  I think mountain bikers who race down
twisty mountain trails can cause a horse and rider to lose their lives and
that does not seem fair to me.  On the other hand, I have personally had
excellent experiences with mountain bikers--I would not condemn the entire
group, just suggest that some rules need apply.  As for hunters, some
hunters use long range rifles with 4-6 inch bullets to shoot deer that weigh
40 some pounds.  I don't think the hunters know where their bullets go.
Around here, the deer are as tame as the cattle because they graze in the
alfalfa fields.  As someone else reported recently, horses have been shot in
their own pastures.  I guess I think that anyone who shoots a gun needs to
take responsibility for where the bullets go.
Obviously, the same thing applies to riders as we already discussed ad
nauseum when we talked about the poor man who was run down at a ride.

I'd like to see all sports keep in mind that we need to get along and try to
conduct themselves in ways that are safe to others.
