Re: Mares in heat
Thought I would share some insight from a breeder in our area...we were
discussing this possibly pregnant mare keeps coming into heat thing...he
pointed out that the major difference he would look for in determining if
it was a true heat or just social behavior would be the physical signs of
enlarged vulva and a creamy discharge as opposed to just squatting and
peeing all over for a stallion or gelding. I thought this was a good point
and should mention that the signs this mare has exhibited have only been
peeing and squatting but never has she had the creamy discharge since she
was bred to the stallion!! So.....if we don't get the vet out in the
meantime, expect an update sometime around April! Wouldn't surprise me if
it was an April's Fool foal! :)
