Terre & Alison Re:downhill backs
Dear Terre and Alison
Its critical that these downhill horses have the
best saddle fitting possible as they start out with a handicap. That
doesn't mean they can't be useful or successful...it just means its not as easy
for them. Good padding is a must as light padding doesn't give them much
protection. Cruppers can be a big help...tho somehorses are prone to
soring over croup...but padding can help there too.
Most importantly, spread the word aboutthe problems
brought about by downhill conformation. Educate breeders and riders
alike...half a dozen years ago nobody was talking about this problem very
much...but people are aware of it now...that is what it takes to turn the
situation around.
