Glenda, 
I have a fannypack-type camelback.  It is wonderful.  I'm not particularly 
high waisted but the side effect I enjoy is the fact that the waistpack acts 
as a lumbar support.  It keeps those lower back muscles warm and I've not had 
any problems with cramping or lower back pain of any kind.

Go ahead and try it. You'll love it.
