Ah yes.....
My last horse was "15 H". He sticked an honest 14.2H when we got him home. His body type & substance were adequate for me & I expected that he'd still grow some as a 4 yo. He is now up to 14.3H and a smidgeon right after a trim. I suspect that he <may> reach an honest 15 H.
My older gelding was listed as 16 H. Yeah. Right! When I got there, imagine my surprise as he towered over the other horses in height & substance. He sticked 16H - but only because of the wads of fat over his withers. Now that he's slimmed down, he sticks an honest 15.3H. I have folks who <swear> he's over 16H when they see them.
I'm not insulted if someone wants to measure my horse, but I <am> peeved when they mis-represent the animal & I have driven many hours to go see them. I've considered asking for a picture of the horse being sticked for verification before traveling to see him... Wouldn't THAT be popular!

Been there! I HATE that, especially after driving some distance. Seems
like even though I say did you measure the horse or are you estimating? It
really doesn't matter I still get horses that are smaller than their
advertised height. Pet peeve I guess. Funny thing is it seems to be a
peeve of many, several people who have looked at horses I have had for sale
seemed amazed that the horse was actually the size I advertised <LOL>.
Good luck in your search,
Dawna
