Fort Valley Last Vet Check
Kevin & Brenda Baird kbbaird@rev.net
The Old Dominion 100 Mile Ride, Inc., requires a vet check
within the last five miles of any ride that the organization
manages. This does serve as a disincentive to flat-out racing, which can be dangerous from a number of perspectives, but particularly in light of the rugged, remote and often inaccessible trails the riders must cross.
By the way, the Brown Ranch horses took the day on the Sunday 50
miler. The Kanavy's Brown Ranch Timothy (with Wendy Mattingley
aboard) and the Baird's stallion Brown Ranch Sashaa (with Brenda
up) were together coming into that last vet check, but Timmy
recovered first, and that seals the deal when you've only got
one mile to go. But it was a sweet second place for Sashaa--
good to have him back after some time off makin' babies!
Official Ride results will be posted soon.
