I agree. Louise. They should do everything that they are physically able.
(Have seen a few tiny ones on tall horses that DO need an assist with
saddling...) And as much as I inwardly feel like a scrooge pulling a junior
sometimes, most of them take it much more philosophically than many of the
adults do. If their horses are not up to going on, they hurt just as much as
a senior's horse does, and even if a pull is at the finish, you don't do a
kid any favors by giving him something that he didn't earn. Self esteem
comes from actually ACCOMPLISHING what one set out to do, not in being given
false credit for what one did NOT accomplish. And part of completion in this
sport is having a horse at the end that is capable of going on.
