Horses drinking cold water/colic....
There are people like that around here too. Drives me crazy. I
ask then to go get a 5 gal. bucket and fill it with snow. Then
let it melt. How many cups of water are left in the bottom after
the snow melts. Just think of the amount of snow that they would
have to eat in order to stay alive! Plus lowering there body
temperature and having to eat more then having to eat more snow.
What a vicious cycle! One other thing to point out is, how do
they know that horse would not have lived longer if it didn't
have
to live on snow?
Just something to point out to those old timers. Unfortunately,
they
pass on their views to their children and the poor horses still
suffer. I could not imagine having to eat dry hay and then
having
to quench my thirst with cold snow when it is cold out.
