RE: Selenium



The selenium deficiency I am familiar with is nothing like a metabolic tie
up.  My horse was deficient, and he would cramp at the end of a 50.  He
would be fine...even crossing the finish line, but as soon as I stopped, he
would be cramped up.  I had an excellent vet, who used to do the Shore to
Shore ride, swear to me it was selenium...had him tested, he was very low,
gave him the shots, never happened again (the oral didn't seem to do any
good until about a year later...maybe it was good for maintenance, not
increasing levels..)
A metabolic tie up is very different.
