Best horse areas in TN

A friend of mine's husband got a job in Nashville and she wanted me to ask 
the group if anyone knows the best areas to relocate with horses. <Must> be 
within an hour of Nashville. I've only heard that Franklin (?) is a rural 
area. Also, what's the endurance scene like? Any natives or experts out 
there?
