Re: Older Endurance Horses
Did this b4.. but we have a 25 yr old that Carol rides.. was doing 25ld
in about 3.5 to 4 hrs last year.. and some natrc ctr 2 days--last year..
this year he will do mostly ctr.. but open that is 2 day 60.. so we
shall see..
my mare is 22 and did her last 50 miler at 20..now only on ctr open 2
days..working on 5000.. total combined miles need aboout 300 i think.
i started allmy young ones at 4 yrs on one day 25 to 35 mile ctr -under
ectra timed at about 6mph..
did ot have 25 ld back then.. so i took my 5 yr old the 50 milers..both
ctr -yes 50 mile one day ctr back in the 70/80s then off to end50
almost no difference back then as we did them.
now i look to the 25ld as a good place to start the new ones..
our old ones are in great shape..our oldest id 28 and still sound and we
could use him.. but we have the new ones that need to used..
we feed our own cob mix and ABC Plus.. beet pulp..
