I'm proud of your daughter too !  My 4 kids each had their own horse from
the time they were around 10 (we had a pony, from the time the oldest was a
year and a half)  Same pony was there for all these kids and many more.  The
horses always lived here on our place, and were totally taken care of by the
children.

Three of the four kids still have horses (babies-now grown and endurancing
and doing Ride and Tie,  and they are still living at the kids homes.  The
forth kid has just bought property, and will proceed to have their horses.

The grandchildren have not had their own horses,  and do most of their
riding when they are visiting with us.  The horses they get to start on are
very well ridden before the children start.

None of these horses were expensive to buy, and none of them have had
professional training  neither have the children.  It has been pretty much a
"user friendly" "in house" program.
