RC: money going out out out
>On this subject, I agree that owning horses is very expensive. However, I
have calcualted that I actually made a profit on my 5 endurance rides this
year:
1. I already own the horses, pickup, trailer, tack etc. These are basic
necessities of life so don't count towards the cost of endurance riding.
2. I am fortunate that I have been able to car pool to most rides, thus
reducing the cost of fuel.
So, here's how I figure it:
Cost
Average entry fee $70
Average fuel 50
Total Cost $120
Return on Investment
Camping, two nights,
horse, dog, two people $24
3-4 veterinary exams, 2
detailed 100
Meal 10
Tee shirt or other
wonderful prizes 15
Hay and treats for the
horse 5
Total Return $154
Net Profit $ 34
Total profit 5 rides $170
Don't know of another sport where everyone's a winner!
Think how much I'd make if I were to top ten and win BC.
