Wrong. Re-check the form. It says, "Not eligible for consideration for
B.C. if there is a pathological gait aberration GREATER than grade II.
That means a horse can be head bobbing lame on a straight line and win
BC. Not probable, but possible.
I had some riders in the top 10 ask me how on earth their horses were
graded lower than the horse who looked so bad. The answer was speed and
weight. Maybe the form SHOULD say Grade II, not "Greater than grade II"
In general, the problem seems to crop up more from vets than management.
Even with great vets, there's usually at least one that's a "trainee" or
whatever. The people who push the envelope sure are good at getting in
the *right* line and talking non-stop while holding the lead rope right
at the halter, running in front of the horse, etc.." By the time
management realizes the person has finaggled a completion past the vet
with the least confidence to argue with the competitor...they feel they
MUST stand behind the decision of their vet.
