RE: Hot weather syndrome
To all concerned with this problem:
Since the AERC Board of Directors decision in 1987, data has been collected
on the reasons for horses treated at rides. (see AERC Rules & Regulations
2.1.8)
Since there is so much concern, the membership should ask the AERC Office to
evaluate these reports and publish the findings as an article in the AERC
News. After all, there should be some significance to the gathering of
information over a period of twelve years!

Sue;
I seem to hear a lot of discussion lately of horses already at a deficit for
hydration by the time they have traveled a significant distance to get to
the
ride site. I know I have seen many people arrive at a ride late the day of
pre-vet. Could this have been a factor?
Also, is there any plan in place for a "vet review" after an incidence has
happened? It seems like it would be benficial for even a phone comference
after the event between the attending vets. Does this sound feasible?
Thanks,
Jackie Baker
