Endurance riding and Valerie Kanavy

While it was very exciting to see Valerie Kanavy and her horses on the Today
show, it was also very disappointing the way endurance was presented. Valerie
is a wonderful and knowledgeable spokesperson for the sport of endurance
riding. I expected to also see a studio interview with a clip of her winning
her most recent championship in 1998. Valerie Kanavy has won the world
championship twice and was second to her daughter by seconds in 1996, so
almost three times. Valerie Kanavy received the Equestrian of theYear Award
which encompasses all equestrian sports and was not mentioned. She had to
qualify for the world championships as do other althetes. Imagine how much
harder it is with an animal included. She has won many many endurance rides
and takes excellent care of her animals. It is a shame that Valerie Kanavy
was not given the opportunity to talk more as she is definitely a top rider
in endurance.
Katie Couric making a big deal of the horse going to the bathroom was
tasteless and immature. Most children in elementary school get over bathroom
jokes in second grade. Is NBC aiming to a first grade audience?
