I had an Appy mare that would always scramble in a trailer.  I was asvised
by a friend to take the divider out and it worked.  I could haul another
horse with her as long as the divider was out.  It is my understanding that
horses that scramble feel trapped and can not balance right.  This mare did
not always scramble and I don't know why she started it.  Some horses will
scramble with a full divider and not with a partial divider (the balancing
thing).  This was a stright load trailer, I now have a slant load and the
last time I hauled this mare she was in the center stall of a three horse
trailer, I did not close the devider behind her and she did not scramble.
This is a simple soultion that has worked for many folks and is worth a try.
