Hi Roxanne, boy can I relate! My 5 year old does the same thing. He looks
everywhere but where he's going sometimes. I have to RIDE him all the time.
When he starts goggling at something I jiggle the opposite rein and bring his
mind back to the task at hand. I have to do this constantly to keep him with
me mentally. (He probably wonders what all that jiggling is going on back
there). He has improved quite a bit over the past few months, but I still
can't "ride the buckle" . I also pay attention to his body balance, no
gangling, nose stretched out walk for him -- he has to stay marginally
collected or....splatto -- nose plant on the trail! Good luck -- it does get
better with miles.
