We haven't insured our own horses, but have required people who buy the
more expensive of our horses on time to insure them.  The only
experience we've had was with Markel (http://www.horseinsurance.com/).
A horse we sold died before she was fully paid for, and we were paid off
just fine - however the thing we learned is that it's extremely
important to follow the exact procedures the insurer requires!  Lif
