Purina Strategy was recommended to me and it puts on weight and bloom.  I 
feed a lactating broodmare 1 gallon two times daily, and my endurance mare 
gets 1/2 gallon mixed with about 1 gallon of beet pulp two times daily.  In 
absence of beet pulp, I don't see why just Strategy wouldn't work.  It's 
working on the broodmare.
