Technology has helped us a lot, perhaps it can help in taking P & Rs
more accurately.

I bought two hand held HMs at the AERC convention and we used them at our
first ride in April which I CO-managed. Good thing we had them. It being a
new ride we did not have experienced P&R people. They were given a 15 minute
lesson on how to take P&R. I wasn't real comfortable about this and asked
the Vets if we could use the hand helds. Vets had never seem them but we
tested about 10 horses and they approved the hand helds. We still did the
people P&Rs as backups and the vets did their own P&R with their
stethoscopes. No complaints and it kept the P&R lines open. I carry one
with me when I ride and use it on myself when I'm tailing or running with my
horse. I like them a lot.
