RC: Fort Valley Pioneer Ride
Hi Susan,
We've always parked in the grassy area near the red barn, which is
closer to the vetting, registration and most importantly, FOOD areas.
But try to stay on high ground -- if it rains, much of the area turns
into a muddy mess. Even with four-wheel drive, you may have to be
extracted by a tractor.
If you arrive early, you can claim "prime ground" and be fine.
The people who park below in the campground are usually those with big
rigs. It's level down there, but there's little grass, and it's a longer
hike up to the red barn. On the other hand, your horse remaining in camp
while you ride would be adjacent to the Fort Valley rental string for company.
Wherever you stake out your claim, enjoy!
Bobbie (okay...now you're gonna make me homesick!)
<<<What are the pros and cons of parking in the pasture below the red
barn vs.
parking in the campground? I'm planning to ride one day and work the
other two so my horse will be there while I'm working. Thanks for any advice.
