Pastern Angles
I forgot a third long-term side effect of a club foot: ringbone
Because all the joints in the foot: the coffin bone, the
short pastern, and the long pastern are all pulled out of alignment,
there tends to be arthritic degeneration where the surfaces of
the two bones meet with greater stress than they ought to, where
the bones are "pinched" together. My grade 2 1/2 filly already
had substantial high ringbone by the age of three where the
short pastern and long pastern connect just above the
coronary band.
