I want to thank everyone who has responded to my question on using an
ex-race horse for distance riding. The consensus was overwhelming in
favor of doing this.  Everyone was quite pleased with their horse(s) and
would not hesitate to go that way again.  So, now I need to give it some
serious thought.  I visited the trainer who at the moment has nothing
suitable available but suggested I contact him every 2 or 3 weeks.
