re: RC: reins and martingales
Hi Anita,
Rubber stoppers on reins are great. And while it may
*look* like it's not easy to get the running martingale
on and off the reins, it is in fact very easy.
All you do is squish the rubber flat against the rein
and the slip running martingale ring over the stopper
and then the snap. I have the rope reins with scissor
snaps from Australian Connection and their biothane
running martingale.
However, at a ride I do not take the running martingale
on and off the reins, instead I just unhook everything,
snap the rein to the halter / bridle, and carry the
running martingale in my hand on the other end of the
reins... when needed. It's not a big deal.
Why a running martingale? Well, like Blue's friend Gale
likes to say to him... when he's not wearing it:
"I can see your nostrils Blue. Actually, I can see
buggers in your nose."
Me? I don't want to see if there are buggers in his
nose. I just put it all on and go.
