Re: RC: reins and martingales
Hey Anita,
Been dealing with this for 5 years...until TODAY!!:-)) This was Kaboot's
1st non-martingale ride, we've switched to an English hackamore FINALLY!
There's a couple of options I use.
1. Just leave the reins over the neck and loop my sponge through the
reins to jog downhill.
2. Unhook the running martingale from the breastcollar and lead with
reins & martingale (harder to straighten out to put back on.
3. When I enter a vet check, I take the martingale, unsnap it from the
breastcollar and snap it on the halter bridle, then drop the bit and
carry that end in my hands.
4. If you are getting on and off and the martingale isn't horribly
important for awhile, unsnap if from the breast collar and snap it onto
the halter. It'll just swing there and you can take the reins on and off
easily for awhile.
I never take the reins out of the martingale.
