You are thinking of what UMECRA (Upper Midwest
Endurance and Competitive Ride Association) calls "competitive
riding". The basic rules are on: www.bfm.org/umecra/
No horsemanship judging, no artificial trail
obstacles, no washing of horses. Just 5.5-7 MPH pace, 10 minute window and
vet scores much like a BC.
In re another thread: UMECRA rides normally don't have a
preentry requirement (some give discounts), have a pot luck dinner (saves
catering expense, sometimes with a main dish supplied), and always refund for
horses that can't start.
