Nutrition for week long ride
Do not start electrolyte supplementation more than 12 hours before you
start-all it will do is gear up the horse's system to excrete them. I do
electrolyte the night before at an event to stimulate drinking, then the
morning of and at intervals during to replace losses (amounts depend on
conditions, etc).
AS far as feeding-let him graze as often as possible, get him accustomed
to the hay, hay cubes and grain or concentrates you will be using a week or
so before-just increase the amounts you give during the week of the event.
